About Bookmarks, Favorites and Internet Browsers |
|
Why Use Bookmarks or Favorites?
"Bookmarks" or "favorites" are used by people surfing the internet so they don't have to memorize or type in web page addresses (URLs) every time they want to revisit their favorite web pages. The presentations below focus on the simplest ways to bookmark (for Netscape) an internet page or add it to your favorites list (for AOL or Microsoft Internet Explorer) and how to use bookmarks or favorites so you can easily revisit a web page that you like.
Do You Discuss My Internet Browser?
Internet browsers are the program(s) you use to select and view internet content such as web pages. Except where stated otherwise, the descriptions below are based on relatively recent versions of the most commonly used browsers. If you are using a different version or type of browser than those described below, there is still a reasonable chance that one of these examples will work for you. If not, you may want to visit some of the supplementary web page links we provide below.
Advanced Topics
Wise use of bookmarks and favorites can make your internet surfing experience much easier and more enjoyable. But soon after you learn to use them, you may end up with one long string of bookmarks and discover it is no longer easy to find the page you seek. The solution: you must organize your bookmarks or favorites into folders and label them thoughtfully. Then, you should be able to find exactly what you are looking for in an instant. If you'd like to learn about this and other advanced topics, visit some of the external web page links below that are labeled "{Detailed}".
Helpful Tip
You may find it helpful to print this web page for easy reference as you follow the procedures. Note, however, that it may take many pieces of paper to print this entire web page. Advanced users may want to use "Print Preview" to determine which pages apply to you so you can limit your printout to those pages.
